Self-Introduction

"You want to make Big Sis an idol? Hahaha, that's one cliché ambitious pick-up line~. Uh, every day I was certainly bored. Alright, let's ride!"

Character Description

Marina is a laid-back from Nagano who talks as if the Producer is her little brother, such as using the suffix "-kun" and saying things like "Leave it to your big sister!". She changes from loose hair to a ponytail from time to time and has a bit of a complex when grouped in a unit with idols younger than her. She almost always talks in a casual manner daily and is unusually energetic for a 26-year-old, claiming herself to be an eternal teenager.

Marina was originally scouted by the Producer as she was handing out products at an event as part of her current part-time job. When she can't surf in the summer, she spends the rest of her seasons working odd jobs. She never connected with any of these places, as her true passion was with surfing. This passion leads her to almost reject the offer of becoming an idol, as she doesn't want to give it up. Eventually, she takes up the job with the hopes it'll spice up her day-to-day life.

Marina, as previously mentioned, is an easygoing and go-with-the-flow type of girl. She's very honest, and is bad at lying. Alongside viewing the Producer like he was her own brother, she also views many of the idols in the production as little sisters, having a soft spot for the younger idols, being able to tell Koharu she's wrong in one instance, and in another, almost falling for Atsumi's shenanigans because of her weakness for the little-sister type idols in the production. She seems to have taken a liking to Kana, whom she frequently dotes on and teases. In terms of fellow adult idols, Marina is arguably most close to Shin, being the same age and from the same prefecture. The two of them having similar playful personalities made it so they hit it off right away, and while they argue and tease each other occasionally, they're an extremely close pair. Shin even once gifted Marina a special handmade accessory box as a sign of their friendship, seen in Marina's [Warmy Ripple] R.

Marina originally started surfing when she was a teenager, and has loved it since; she loves the ocean because the waves are constantly shifting and changing, never the same in any moment. She strives to live every moment to the fullest and being on the ocean lets her appreciate each special second. Since she lives in the inland prefecture of Nagano, the only time she truly felt like she was living was when she went to surf in the summer. It seems in her childhood Marina frequently rebelled against her parents to go surfing, which has led to them having a tense relationship. Her parents, whom are stern and strict people, frequently stifled Marina with their views of how she should live her life, so she avoided home frequently. Her father seems to be particularly strict, as Marina knew he'd be upset about her becoming an idol. They only recently accepted her decision to be an idol after watching one of her lives.

The tie-in "Cinderella Girls Theater" skits depict her as carefree and energetic as ever. She is one of the witnesses of Uzuki’s “unusually normal but always does her best” attitude after she ranked third in a relay race (along with Kana Imai and Aya). Atsumi once attempted to exploit Marina’s big sister attitude in order to grope her by acting cute in front of her. Although Marina almost fell for her cuteness, she finally could bear it by thinking of the same scenario if it was the Producer wanting to do it and forbade her from further doing so, thanking the Producer inside her thought for the idea. When she wore a wedding dress for an event, she admitted that she’d like Clarice to be a witness for her and Tamami as her trainbearer. Marina participated in the 2016 New Year card game competition alongside Mayu, Kiyora, and Saki Yoshioka, with the theme of guessing an idol based on her trait (which several idols share the similar trait, although Mayu's obsession towards the Producer furthermore has been played in the skit, where Marina, Kiyora and Saki all tried taking the card with Mayu's name), where the series' "Over 100 idols" tagline is also used as the battle's name.

Marina tested Koharu with her own shirt by asking where the Yamagata Prefecture is located in the map of Japan, which took Koharu a few guesses to correctly answer. Chinami teased Marina's inability to bet (since she still gifted Koharu the shirt despite the first incorrect guesses), to which Ako commented that Marina is not "the type of person to lie". Marina joined Frederica's bobsleigh antic during preparation for the 2017 Winter Sports competition. When she brought the Producer to a beach festival, she commented on how easily tired he is and brought up her "eternal teenager" moniker. After he bought two glasses of beer for them both, Marina initially commented that teenagers aren't supposed to drink, but finally decided to drink with him anyway. Marina taught Layla how to properly make onigiri during another off-time activity. In preparation for the 2018 Valentine's Day event, Marina and Misato commented on how Karin would probably prepare for the gifting to the people she'd want to make her Valentine, to which Karin embarrassedly responded that she hadn't even talked about it to them, suspecting that the two grown-ups might have been spying on her (presumably because their guess is accurately correct).
