THE iDOLM@STER POPLINKS Profile Quote
"Hmm, oh my... I'm Momoko Suou. I used to be an actress, but now I'm a professional idol. Of course, you know me, don't you?"
Character Description
The second youngest of the MILLION STARS, Momoko is a former child star turned into an idol. While she was initially distant and displayed distrust towards others, the reasons that caused, was that she has been in the entertainment industry at a very young age, while she has more experience, it also led her to witness the harsh parts within the industry. Because of that, it made her act in a bitter and arrogant way towards anyone, growing her belief that anyone who tries to get close to her is trying to use her for personal gains, and puts distances between herself and her co-workers, saying that they only have a business-like relationship with each other.
Due to her also not having a happy home life, her parents are said to be constantly arguing, so much so that Momoko herself refuses to associate or do anything with them, even hating family-related holidays like Christmas, and even telling the Producer not to invite them over to her performances as they'll cause more fights. Her family before she became famous, were a happy normal family.
Despite that, Momoko is still just a child and a kind one at that. While she may act cold and haughty, she often shows concern over her fellow idols and acts in a way that would suit a child her age from time to time. Furthermore, Momoko also wants to have fun with other kids, but because she's busy with work as a child star, Momoko never had many opportunities to play with other kids her age and learn how to make friends. But when she warms up rather quickly to the Producer and others, she'll show her trust, even smile genuinely and also show a childish side sometimes, though she never completely ditches her haughty attitude. She has a high sense of professionalism and doesn't hesitate to criticize. She is also known to be pretty self-conscious when it comes her height - and that she absolutely hates to be talked down to, which is why she carries around a stepstool in order to talk eye-to-eye with others.
After becoming an idol, Momoko's life took a turn for the better. She managed to become friends with Iku Nakatani, starts becoming friends with the other idols as well, and eventually realizes how much fun singing onstage is and grew to love being an idol seeing it as more than just a job.
Game Appearances
THE iDOLM@STER 2 (Beta)
Momoko was originally intended to make her first appearance alongside Reika Kitakami and Julia in THE iDOLM@STER 2 before being ultimately cut from the official release. Her character concept was similar to her appearance in later media, but with different voice direction. She was originally 12 years old and 142 cm tall, and her given first name was Rinko (Japanese: 凛子 Rinko).
There is an unused PS3 save icon graphic that was found in the files of THE iDOLM@STER 2, depicting idols that resemble Momoko and Reika. It was later discovered that Momoko was originally planned to appear in the game along with Reika and Julia, as evidenced by an early build leaked in 2020 that was discovered in 2021. Included in the data were unfinished 3D models, recordings of The world is all one!! and Visionary, and an early character profile. Leftover data indicates that Visionary was originally intended to be her Image song before being repurposed for THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA Funky Note.
