Rin Shibuya (渋谷凛 Shibuya Rin) is one of the characters available in THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls and THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage.
She is considered the main blue representative of Cinderella Girls. She forms the Cinderella Girls main trio along with Uzuki Shimamura and Mio Honda as the unit new generations, initially due to their role as tutorial idols in both THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls and THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage.
She is voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara (福原綾香 Fukuhara Ayaka).

With her sleek black hair and her imposing school uniform, Rin Shibuya is a cool and trendy schoolgirl. She lives in a flower shop, where she’ll occasionally help her parents over the counter. Though her aloof demeanor makes her seem like the type of person that’s hard to approach, Rin shows a more honest side once she’s more trusting of others.

Character Description
According to her first Starlight Stage Memorial commu, Rin was scouted by Producer on a busy street corner in the middle of Tokyo. After bumping into him, Rin tells him to get out her way and asks who he is rather coldly. After Rin tells him that she noticed him staring at her for a while, Producer scouts her to join his idol production. Rin calls him stupid and tells him that scouting her as an idol is a joke. Rin harshly warns him if he keeps standing in front of her, he'll get arrested; she briskly leaves right after. Every day since, Producer keeps meeting Rin at the same street corner and attempts to scout her. After a few days, Rin calls him persistent and asks him why he keeps targeting her. After saying that her "half-assed" effort might deter her in being a successful idol, Rin then changes her mind and says that she realizes that there's nothing she specifically wants to do. Rin remarks that this apathy troubles her and begins to ask herself what she wants for the present and the future. Producer, in reply, suggests that they find what she wants together. She sighs and remarks that she doesn't know what being an idol will be like, but she's willing to try it to see if she can find what she's looking for. Right before she accepts his proposal, a police officer interrupts and asks Rin if this shady man is causing her trouble. Rin responds that Producer isn't suspicious (she thinks, maybe). After the kerfuffle, Rin asks Producer his name and introduces herself in turn, starting her idol journey. In the anime, she becomes interested in being an idol after hearing Uzuki talk about her dream of being top idol as well as seeing her smile.
At first meeting, Rin comes off as aloof, stoic, and a bit cold. She talks in a casual tone without honorifics and can be a bit cheeky at times, especially to adults like Producer. She is self-aware of this, but has no intent to change her demeanor to please others. Rin's number one value is being self-sufficient, liking to complete tasks alone to avoid relying on others. She is also very diligent, turning in her coursework always on time while balancing a part-time job at her family's flower shop. These qualities lead her to become a sort of "lone wolf," not having many friends before being an idol. She's remarked before that her intimidating expression often deters people from getting to know her. However, being in solitude never bothered her in the first place. Other idols and Producer often see her alone listening to music from her MP3 player. With a cool-headed and determined attitude, she never settles for the bare minimum and seeks to complete tasks to perfection. After being an idol, she lets down her guard and begins to rely on her fellow idols and Producer more. To others' initial surprise, she has a caring and affectionate side that she occasionally shows others. Around the production, the other idols see her as sensible and dependable as Rin often gives advice and support for various problems that come up in the office. Rin also acts a "big sister" to younger idols and provides gentle encouragement for those who need it. This attitude can be seen with Producer as well, at times making him tea, teasing him, and expressing gratitude for producing her as an idol.
Though she seems perfect in her coolness, there are qualities that point to her still being a young teen. Rin can be stubborn at times and has no problem arguing with others (especially authority) in order to defend herself or someone she cares about. Sometimes, she can cross the line and severely hurt the person she's talking to, even if she has good intent behind her words (e.g. Uzuki in the anime or Chiyo in Starlight Stage's Drastic Melody event). Confrontations sometimes lead Rin to feel heavy guilt or shame; she is prone to emotional outbursts if the tension is high enough. Additionally, Rin has some childish habits as well. She has a 4 year old yorkie miniature dachschund mix pet dog named Hanako who she jokingly consults for advice from time to time. In conversation with idols like Yume and Nono, she's shown to be imaginative and creative with an appreciation for the arts. Rin likes to come up with stories in her head as well as read poetry.
Rin tends to be the “straight man” in joke sequences and is sometimes overly serious to a comedic point. Her cool, level-headed demeanor is put to the test when she's stuck in the same room with eccentric idols like Ranko, Kaede, and Sachiko. Her energy gets easily drained when with idols that have a strong personality, finding it relieving to be a "normal" idol. In group settings, Rin is usually the person who keeps others focused. One such example is on the Cinderella Radio show where her co-hosts, Uzuki and Mika, tend to steer the discussion to bizarre places if left unchecked.
She is part of two separate three-girl circles: new generations with Uzuki and Mio, who are fellow idols she debuted with together, and Triad Primus with Nao and Karen, who reunited after finding out they all went to the same middle school. In new generations, she acts as the go-getter, determined realistic member that balances out the unit with naïve Uzuki and energetic Mio. Rin is very close friends with both Uzuki and Mio and likes to do activities with them in their private time. Concerning Triad Primus, Rin is very close friends with both Nao and Karen after meeting at the agency and reconnecting. They can often be seen together at a family restaurant eating french fries, talking and laughing with each other. Whenever Karen leads the charge to tease Nao, Rin isn't far behind her acting as her accomplice. She likes when Nao is flustered as she gets red very easily. Rin finds it hard to deal with Karen sometimes as she gets too flirty and goes off on many tangents.

Rin is an idol in the Cool category. Her basic card is normal. Rin is one of the characters used in marketing the Cinderella Girls franchise and was the only character to have a voice actress prior to the CINDERELLA MASTER CD series. Although Rin's normal card has low basic stats, she was the first extra idol to get an extra S Rare card, and that card is extremely powerful. Since she goes from an unremarkable character to a star so quickly, she can be thought of as embodying the true spirit of the Cinderella Girls project. She has received three set of Rare cards, seven sets of S Rares, and two special S Rare+ cards only available in Lawson stores and buying the Cool Summer Vacation Drama CD. Her S Rare titles are "New Generation", "CD Debut", "Pure Valentine", "Iolite Gothic", "Banquet Diva", "Wonderful Magic", "Cinderella Girl", "Cool Summer Vacation", "Anniversary Princess", "Dream Story", "Trust Present", "G4U!", and "Blue Wind". She has four SSRs exclusive to Starlight Stage, titled "Over Myself", "Eternal Bloom", "Triad Primus" and "Astral Sky".

Rin Shibuya appears as a rival in the STAR OF FESTA mode for Honey Sound, Groovy Tune, and Funky Note. She is a B rank rival who can give her Name Card to the player while in the STANDARD difficulty. Obtaining her Name Card adds 20 points to the player's score after their performance.

Rin is available as a guest idol in the tenth catalog of downloadable content. She's available to perform her image song, Never say never, in Stage For You! mode. She also is available to be faced in a DLC festival where she uses her special skill.

- Rin is the first idol in Cinderella Girls to receive a voice actress. She was voiced on January 13th, 2012 through a commercial for the Mobage game.
- In the on-going Cinderella Theater series, Rin is always seen along with Uzuki Shimamura and Mio Honda whenever there are new characters appearing.
- Rin's outfit in her special Lawson card was designed by popular lolita brand Metamorphose.
- For a short time, her dress, along with other accessories on the card, was available for purchase.
- Rin made a cameo in the credits of THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE.

- Rin is notable for being the very first of the idols introduced in the game to receive an S Rare card after she proved popular among players, and also the first to be announced to be getting a CD debut. Her rise in popularity and her being the first one to go from being a mere tutorial idol to getting a CD debut earned her popularity, becoming an early-day poster girl for Cinderella Girls.
- Fans often noted how Rin's jump from a low-cost tutorial idol to a voiced CD debut mirrored a true Cinderella story in the game.
- Rin is called "Shiburin" by both fans and Mio.
- Rin was voted the most popular Cinderella Girls character in 2014 and given the Cinderella Girl title in the 3rd Cinderella Girls Election.
