THE iDOLM@STER 2nd Vision is the second era of THE iDOLM@STER franchise that follows 1st Vision. The era started with the release of THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars on September 17, 2009, and concluded during the finale of THE IDOLM@STER M@STERS OF IDOL WORLD!!!!! 2023.

History

The first addition to this era was THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars, which introduced the format of playing the role of an idol rather than a producer. THE iDOLM@STER 2 reintroduced the traditional idol produce system. These two games were followed by the photo shooting game THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You!. Later, the mobile game, THE iDOLM@STER Mobile i was added to the franchise, making good use of the iPhone's capabilities. THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA, a rhythm game using footage from both the anime and THE iDOLM@STER 2, was eventually released.

Afterwards, iM@S CHANNEL was developed as a "hub" for THE iDOLM@STER games on the PS3. Gravure For You! was re-released onto this platform. Two new games, Shiny TV and ONE FOR ALL have been added to this series.

In addition to these games, a series of spin-off "mobile games" were released. Cinderella Girls, Million Live!, SideM, and Shiny Colors notably use characters and designs directly from this series while introducing a massive cast of idols (both male and female). All of these four games would be the starting points of the respective other branches, joining the original 765PRO ALLSTARS branch as part of a growing franchise.

At the end of Q4 of 2022, it was announced that THE iDOLM@STER would transition to the 3.0 Vision to explore new media trends and avenues with THE iDOLM@STER franchise. The conclusion of the M@STERS OF IDOL WORLD!!!!! 2023 concert officially marked the end of the 2nd Vision. Thus, the 3.0 Vision has started.

2nd Vision lasted until February 12, 2023, for a total of approximately 14 years and 4 months.
