THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! (アイドルマスター グラビアフォーユー! Aidorumasutaa Gurabia Foo Yuu!) is a sub-series of games in the Second Vision continuity. In the games, the player can take pictures of idols wearing different outfits while posed. The original release of the game totaled 9 individual volumes released in bundles with episodes of THE iDOLM@STER anime, containing the idols from 765 Production and guest idols from 876 Production. Another set of nine volumes were released for characters from THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls.

Gravure For You!

When the series was originally released, volumes were bundled with episodes of THE iDOLM@STER anime and PERFECT IDOL CDs. The player can take pictures of one of the thirteen idols from 765 Production in various poses and costumes on different sets. In addition, volumes 7, 8, and 9 have Ai Hidaka, Eri Mizutani, and Ryo Akizuki, respectively, who are included for players to take pictures of. In every volume, a "Meet Your Idol" option allows for a short dialogue with the idol depicted on the cover of the volume. All idols, including the three special idols, have a specific pose only they can do, and certain costumes can either limit movement or have different pose sets. All of the idol specific mixes were produced by Akitaka Tohyama.

On October 2, 2013, the series was re-released on the PS3 for iM@S CHANNEL. Volume 1 has a cost of 300 yen, and all other volumes are priced at 1,500 yen. Pictures can be saved into a gallery. Certain features were added to these volumes to make the photos more customizable including:

  • Camera Tilt via controller motion sensor tilt
  • The ability to add a black frame around the photos
  • Different photo sizes
  • The ability to display a guide grid
  • A vignetting effect
  • A button to change BGM playlists
  • 150% angle swing of the camera
  • An option to hide the menu

A number of sets from Gravure For You! were used in other games. The "Seaside" sets used in Volumes 1, 4, 6, and 8 were later reused as the "Tropical on the Beach" stage for THE iDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL, while the "Seaside" sets used in Volumes 3 and 9 were slightly edited versions of THE iDOLM@STER 2's "Beach Live" stage, and the "Live House" stage was a direct copy of the version from the same game. The "Classroom", "Winter Street Corner", "House Studio", "Studio Set", "Church", and "Fireworks" sets would all also appear in SHINY FESTA and Shiny TV. Despite being named differently, there is no difference between the "Horizontal Line and Sand" and "Horizontal Line and Sailors" sets.

Gravure For You! shares most of the UI/UX elements with THE iDOLM@STER 2.

Volume 1

The first volume in THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series introduced the idea of taking snapshots of the idols with backgrounds, costumes, and poses. Many songs from both the original games and the 2nd Vision series appeared in this game, including an original remix that was created for this game, "Haruka RedMIX". This tradition was used in later volumes as well.

For the IM@S CHANNEL release, this volume would later be sold at 300 yen for the full content.

Trial Edition

For the IM@S CHANNEL re-release of the Gravure For You! series, Volume 1 received a Trial Edition which players could download onto the iM@S CHANNEL. Being a free trial of that volume, the Trial Edition has significant differences from the full version of this game, which are explained as follows.

  • Saving pictures is disabled.
  • The player can only select Haruka Amami. Attempting to select other idols will display a message stating that they cannot be selected.
  • In the confirmation dialog that appears upon selecting Haruka, there is additional text stating that saving pictures is not available.
  • Pressing R1 will play the shutter animation, but will not save pictures or display a preview of the picture that was taken.

Volume 2

This is the second volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You!, and also the first volume to feature two costumes with the introduction of the 765 School Swimsuit. It has a new compilation of songs: "MAMI YellowMIX".

Volume 3

This is the third volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It is the first volume to feature a casual costume in gameplay. It also has a new compilation of songs: "YUKIHO WhiteMIX".

Volume 4

This is the fourth volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "TAKANE OrientalRedMIX". Interestingly, while the rest of the original mixes contain the idols' image color, Takane's image color (carmine) is replaced with "Oriental Red".

Volume 5

This is the fifth volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "YAYOI OrangeMIX". A new option was created to allow players the use an accessory set with one of the costumes, this being the accessories "White Cat Ears" and "White Cat Tail". This volume also introduced a new costume into the series: "765 White School Swimsuit". Additional options were introduced in this volume that would later be used in the rest of the G4U! volumes. These include using the PS3 controller's motion capabilities to control the camera in which tilting the controller will move it, the ability to choose a photo size (Wide (as per usual), Long, or Square), black borders on or off for photos in the Long or Square shapes, a display a guide grid, which will vary depending on the photo size selected, and a Kerare Filter, which is a vignetting effect.

Volume 6

This is the sixth volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "MAKOTO BlackMIX". This volume also introduced a new costume into the series: "Devil Swimsuit". The volume allows the ability to remove or keep the "Vampire Mouthpiece" accessory with the "My Dear Vampire" costume.

Volume 7

This is the seventh volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "HIBIKI TurquoiseBlueMIX". While the rest of the original mixes contain the idols' image color, Hibiki's image color (light blue) is replaced with "Turquoise Blue". This volume also marked Ai Hidaka's second HD appearance, featuring her in a special mode of the game. This mode allows players to take pictures of her while wearing the "Exercise Wear NEO" costume and allows them to listen to her sing the BGM music. Another unique option for this volume is the ability to add the accessory "Heartbreak Glasses" to the "Rough Time School" costume.

Volume 8

This is the eighth volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "MIKI YellowGreenMIX". Much like Hibiki and Takane's volumes, Miki's image color (fresh green) is replaced with "Yellow Green". This volume also marked Eri Mizutani's second HD appearance, featuring her in a special mode of the game. This mode allows players to take pictures of her wearing the costume "Pastel Bikini" and listen to her sing the BGM music. An option was also developed to allow pictures to be taken on a horizontal, empty beach. Both "Dreamy Wedding" and "Pastel Bikini" debuted in this volume.

Volume 9

This is the ninth and last volume of THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You! series. It has a new compilation of songs: "CHIHAYA BlueMIX". This volume also marked Ryo Akizuki's second HD appearance, featuring him in a special mode of the game. This mode allows players to take pictures of him wearing the "Sailor Swimsuit" costume and listen to him sing "Dazzling World" as the BGM music. Like the previous volume, an option was developed to allow pictures to be taken on a horizontal, empty beach as well as the option to use the "Sailor Cap" accessory. An unlockable costume is also available for Ryo to wear, "Good Sleep Pajamas", if you play wirelessly on the PS Vita. The costume is also available to be unlocked without the use of a PS Vita in the iM@S CHANNEL version of the game. The summer kimonos were also a new costume introduced by this volume.

Magazine

In addition to the game, original releases also had a "magazine" included in the purchase called Aigura (アイグラ Aigura, short version of Idol Gravure). These false magazines totaled 9 volumes and each focused on 1-2 idols (called "Push Idols") per release. The subtitle for every volume explained the title of the series: "Idol Gravure ♥ Graphic ♥ Gratitude Magazine". Every volume followed a formula:

  • Page 1: Volume Cover: Featuring Push Idol #1
  • Pages 2 - 6: Push Girl #1: Gravure pictures of Push Girl #1 wearing costumes from the corresponding volume.
  • Page 7: Table of Contents: Booklet Contents.
  • Pages 8 - 9: IDOL CROSS TALK: A conversation or interview between the Push Girls of that volume.
  • Pages 10 - 11: IDOL DISCOGRAPHY: A spread on the Push Girls' Image and Personal songs.

  • Page 24: Back Cover: Featuring Push Idol #2
