THE iDOLM@STER Platinum Stars (アイドルマスター プラチナスターズ Aidorumasutaa Purachina Sutaazu) (Simplified Chinese: 偶像大师 白金星光, Traditional Chinese: 偶像大師 白金星光; Pinyin: Ǒuxiàng dàshī báijīn xīngguāng, Korean: 아이돌마스터 플래티넘 스타즈 aidolmaseuteo peullaetineom seutajeu) is the first iDOLM@STER PS4 game. The graphics in this installment have dramatically improved, due to the PlayStation 4's capabilities. This is also the first game in the series where the main logo gets a more modern makeover, which marks the start of something new.

A PS4 iDOLM@STER game was briefly announced at the SCEJA Press Conference on September 9, 2013. The game was first shown briefly as a teaser at THE IDOLM@STER M@STERS OF IDOL WORLD!!2015, then it was officially revealed to the public via Famitsu magazine in January 2016. It was released on July 28, 2016 in the Japanese version and September 28, 2016 in the Korean and Chinese versions.

Gameplay

New Features

Platinum Stars includes a multitude of new features such as the ability to have Idols preform Medleys and the ability to directly export and share performance videos to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Dailymotion (US and Europe only, removed on June 20th, 2018) and Niconico (Japan only) via PS4 Share.

Trivia

  • While other idols have not had their designs significantly altered, Ritsuko now wears her hair in a single braid to the left, as opposed to a spiky bun on top in the earlier 2nd Vision games.
  • THE iDOLM@STER Platinum Stars is the first iDOLM@STER game to receive an international release on a non-mobile platform. While THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA was first released as a PSP game when localized for English-speaking North America, it was released on iOS, and when THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls was released in 2014 in South Korea, it remained as a mobile game, making this the first non-mobile international release of an iDOLM@STER game.
