A highly cryptic girl with a noble, almost regal air about her. The inner workings of her mind are a veritable riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
"I am the one who has recently come to be known as an idol. You are permitted to call me by the name Shijou Takane. I would like to express my anticipation of our cooperation. It is highly probable that you will find me wanting for a certain measure of experience in the ways of this world... and that the darkness of my own ignorance will become a bother to you as well. However...long have I intently sought after a form of success which I am capable of grasping, and even now I shall continue to do so with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, whatever tribulations my arise. Ah...could it be that my preferred manner of speech has left you nonplussed? *giggle* Verily I must say, that is a most desirable outcome. The reason being simply that it stands as a testimony to the fact that you mind has already begun to harbor interest in me. Now come; let us embark upon our skyward journey together. Our destiny lies not in our stars, but ourselves."

Personality

Takane Shijou is an elegant and majestic figure, known as "The Silver Queen" by her fans in the game. Introduced in SP, she is also known as the "Vocal Master" of 961 Production, rivaling, and even supposedly surpassing Chihaya's ability. Described as a princess by Ami and Mami Futami, Takane's defining trait is her gentle yet dignified demeanor, often speaking in a somewhat old-fashioned style and being polite to anyone she meets, including her own rivals. She often refers to others using their full name along with honorifics and calls the Producer "anata-sama", which is traditionally only used as an extremely polite form of saying "you" or when a wife is talking to her husband.

Takane's past is heavily shrouded in mystery, evidenced by her hometown being listed as "Kyoto?" in game. In SP, she claims to have become an idol in order to encourage and give hope to the troubled in her hometown. While not originally from Kyoto, she was raised there by a wealthy family and has been shown to be close with her butler, Jiiya. She is also known to have a younger sister. The mystery surrounding Takane's past in addition to her association with the moon has led rumors to spread that Takane is actually originally from the moon, which has been played with in the series in instances such as her being depicted as Kaguya-hime.

Takane's wealthy upbringing has played a significant role in defining her character and interests. She has a strong interest in history and astronomy, a passion for music and stage shows, and has been shown to be incredibly wise, almost comparable to that of Ritsuko's intellect. However, she's also somewhat naive of the world as a result of her sheltered upbringing. In SP, she initially wasn't even aware of what ramen was, which has since become her all-time favorite food. Her naïveté has also led her to being on the receiving end of many of Ami and Mami's pranks. Even more notably, she's been shown to even be somewhat of a crybaby and struggles greatly with loneliness, describing it in iDOLM@STER 2 as the one thing she fears the most, causing her to strongly value the relationships she has with both her fellow idols and her Producer.

Despite her mature nature, Takane has also been shown to have a comedic side to her. Her gluttonous nature is often played for laughs, with Takane being capable of devouring dozens of ramen bowls in a single sitting. Around other idols, she's been seen as a bit of a tease, particularly with Hibiki Ganaha in skits from the THE IDOLM@STER STATION!!! radio show and Roco Handa in the Million Live! series. In the anime and Million Live! Theater Days, she is shown to be incredibly fond of silly mascot outfits, having been seen dressing up as a frog and a black cat respectively. In the Puchimasu! manga series, she has an extreme fondness for the puchidols, often getting nosebleeds when witnessing one of the puchidols doing something cute.

Game Appearances

THE iDOLM@STER (Arcade) Prototype

In the prototype version of the arcade game, Takane was a sophisticated, quarter-European daughter of company CEO. She was proficient in German and the piano. However, she and Hibiki Ganaha were ultimately cut from the official release. In the prototype version of the arcade game, Takane's hobbies were playing the piano and practicing ballet. Takane's hair was also blond.

THE iDOLM@STER SP

The release of the "Wandering Star" game marked the first official in game appearance of Takane, revived from her original arcade design as a rival idol from 961 Production. While she does nothing against it, she is well aware that President Kuroi is telling her ridiculous lies about 765 Production. On her days off or in random appearances, Takane is occasionally seen playing with the Futami twins or Yayoi Takatsuki until she gets scolded by President Kuroi. Even though Takane saw through the Futami twin's deception, she is very oblivious and naive sometimes, falling for every prank and trap set by Hibiki Ganaha and Miki Hoshii in 961 Production.

Before the release of the Overmaster single, her hobbies were officially changed from "Staying alone" and "Looking at the moon" to "Stargazing" and "Stage shows".

THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars

In THE iDOLM@STER 2nd Vision games, Takane is an idol at 765 Production. Her 2nd vision design is mostly consistent with her earlier version, with some slight differences. For example, she lets two locks of hair outside her headband.

THE iDOLM@STER 2

Takane keeps most of her mysterious and unique qualities, though she is a a bit more airheaded.

THE iDOLM@STER Gravure For You!

Volume 4 of the Gravure series focuses on Takane with a "Meet Your Idol" sequence that contains a short dialogue between her and the producer. This volume also contains the TAKANE OrientalRedMIX; a mix of songs with Takane's vocals that can be played in the background while taking photos of the idols.

THE iDOLM@STER (anime)

In THE iDOLM@STER anime, Takane is a idol at 765 Production. She is often called "The Silver Princess", and everything about her is wrapped in mystery. Her fans have all sorts of theories of who she might be ranging from a royal scion to an alien.

This article contains spoilers from THE iDOLM@STER (anime)

In episode 19, Takane starts to feel a unwanted presence near her when she's working, but doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. On a stroll around town after a shoot, she accidentally bumps into a man. She apologizes and continues her walk, but she then notices that the man's wallet has fallen to the ground, thus she picks it up and gives it back. The man then treats Takane to a meal for her kindness.
Later, it turns out that this man actually is the owner of another production agency, Elder Records, and that someone from 961 Production has leaked pictures of Takane and him eating together. Suddenly, Takane is on every tabloid with everyone speculating that she's about to change agency. Takane now realizes that the presence she felt must have been because of the 961 PRO paparazzo. She explains the misunderstanding to everyone at 765 PRO, but the other idols still remain a bit suspicious because of her secretive personality. They secretly start to keep an eye on her, but Takane catches onto them quickly and gets her theory confirmed by Chihaya.
A few days later, Takane is once again approached by the paparazzo who now becomes aggressive after a failed attempt at a picture. He tries to take her down, but with a little help of her Producer, Takane sends him flying to the ground and gets him arrested. The newspaper then gets a hold of Elder Records' owner who denies the agency change, and everything goes back to normal.

  • According to one of her Million Live! character cards, Takane used to play the koto as a child.
  • According to her bio in THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! Theater Days, her hometown is listed as Kyoto? (京都市?). Whether this is her real hometown or if this is a reference to the other idols guessing this is where she is from is unknown.
    • During the 2015 iM@S 10th anniversary interview, Akihiro Ishihara said, "Takane is from Kyoto." [1]

  • In her pre-awakened version "EVERYDAY WAVE!!" card, she appears as ARCANA unit that partakes of hunting food recipe show, which it also shows " Doko ni Aru Kana?" text that makes the pun of that unit.

Fan Culture

  • Because Takane appears and disappears in random places, she is known to be the tsukkomi (interfering) character of the series, often appearing out of nowhere to say something towards the person and just simply leave.
  • Fans sometimes pair her with Michiru Enjoji in fanworks, where she visits his ramen shop.
